VITTORIA X MBFWA 2019
One might think that coffee and fashion might not go hand in hand. However, at this year’s Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, Vittoria Coffee has worked with exclusive Australian fashion labels to design a unique range of latte cups.
Vittoria Coffee is a third-generation family business that began in Italy. Since 1958, they began mastering the art of café style coffee and pioneered the development of the Australian coffee industry. Today, Vittoria Coffee has grown to become a household name and continues to set the standard for Australia’s café culture!
Vittoria Coffee’s ongoing partnership with MBFWA has enabled them to collaborate with Australia’s best designer talent to redesign their iconic latte cup.
The prints for the limited-edition cups were designed exclusively by designers including Dion Lee, Macgraw, Nobody Denim, Venroy, We Are Kindred and Whitehouse Institute student design competition winner, Caroline Reznik.
Dion Lee selected two prints from his Spring/Summer 2019 collection ‘Privacy’ which set its tone through “sensuality and lingerie”, focusing on “controlling what people see and don’t see”.
Melbourne based Nobody Denim selected two prints from their Resort 2020 collection, ‘Artist Not the Muse’, which celebrates their 20th anniversary. The prints nod to the idea of surrealism and impressionism but remain loyal to the brand's denim heritage.
Founded in 2011 at Bondi Beach, Venroy encapsulates a laid back beach lifestyle. Their Bondi sunset print captures the surfer culture of Sydney, whilst their brush stroke design ties in the artisanal nature of hand painting.
The winner of the inaugural Vittoria Coffee Design Award Caroline Reznik, received $5,000 to further her studies as a design student at White House Institute and was offered the opportunity for her designs to be featured in the Vittoria Coffee Fashion Series. Her two-line drawing prints were inspired by Renaissance artwork and Classical Ballet.
Vittoria Coffee is pleased to enhance their commitment to supporting the Australian fashion industry through the Vittoria Coffee Design Award, nurturing local talent to encourage a thriving and sustainable fashion industry.
On the 13th of May, Vittoria Coffee hosted an intimate canapé lunch at Icebergs’ Dining Room Bar to celebrate this collaboration. Designers and guests got to see the Vittoria Coffee Fashion series displayed for the first time throughout the space, highlighted by the signature Vittoria gold accents and deep, tonal florals.
Alongside the fashion series were food, lifestyle and digital media, hosted by Rolando Schriato, managing director, Vittoria Foods and Beverages.
